Restaurant Week Profile: Dovetail

Monday, January 31st, 2011

dovetailIt’s the second week of Winter 2011 Restaurant Week, the event that lets you try meals from some of the best and fanciest restaurants in town for a prix fixe price of $24.07 (lunch) and $35 (dinner).  To honor the occasion, we will profile a participating Upper West Side restaurant each day and its Restaurant Week menu.  Today, we head to Dovetail, the fine dining spot on 77th and Columbus.

If you haven’t yet tried the New American cuisine crafted by Chef John Fraser at Dovetail, now is a great time to sample the miraculous food.  This Restaurant Week, Dovetail will be offering lunch on Monday through Friday.  The three-course menu includes an appetizer with selections like Salmon Ceviche with pink peppercorns, fennel, oranges, and cilantro or Creamy Risotto with duck confit, rosemary and cabbage.  For the main course, select from dishes like Seared Hake with salsa verde, potatoes, olives, preserved lemons, and piquillo peppers or Braised Lamb with persillade, mustard, creamy polenta, and butternut squash.  Finish off the experience with a choice of dessert from options like Chocolate Chiboust with clementines, Rice Krispies, and coconut caramel sorbet or Frozen Vanilla Mousse with spiced pineapple, pomegranate, and olive oil cake.  That menu sounds delicious, and Dovetail becomes even more appealing when hearing that The New York Times calls the restaurant a “warm surprise” and New York Magazine dubs it an “unexpected little miracle.”  Make your Dovetail reservation by calling 212.362.3800 or visiting Open Table’s reservation website.
