Restaurant Week Profile: Fatty Crab
It’s the second week of Winter 2011 Restaurant Week, the event that lets you try meals from some of the best and fanciest restaurants in town for a prix fixe price of $24.07 (lunch) and $35 (dinner). To honor the occasion, we will profile a participating Upper West Side restaurant each day and its Restaurant Week menu. Today, we head to Fatty Crab, the Malaysian restaurant on Broadway near 77th.
Although Fatty Crab doesn’t appear on the participating restaurants list for Restaurant Week, we are cheating a little today, as the eatery is still offering a prix fixe Restaurant Week menu through Sunday, February 6th. In addition, if you can make it to both the Upper West Side location and the West Village location of Fatty Crab for Restaurant Week, you’ll get a free Fatty Crab t-shirt… all the more reason to enjoy some Malaysian cuisine this week! The prix fixe menus are not available online, but Fatty Crab does some of their specialties quite well, and you can expect some of their signature dishes to hit the Restaurant Week menu. New York Magazine raves about Fatty’s Jalan Alor chicken wings, calling them “sweet, sticky, and not too meaty,” and Yelpers love the steamed pork buns and the chili crab. Although the spot isn’t on the RW list, you can still make reservations by going to Open Table, or call 212.496.2722, and make sure to reserve during one of the meals offered for the event.
