Rubenstein Atrium Gets Gold for Going Green

The recently revamped Rubenstein Atrium, a public space operated by Lincoln Center on Broadway between 62nd and 63rd that features free performances, a day-of discount ticket box office for Lincoln Center shows, and other public amenities like free Wi-Fi, was awarded LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council recently. Lincoln Center was proud to announce the new certification, as the Rubenstein Atrium is now the first Lincoln Center building with “green” status. The renovations to the atrium included systems that reduce water use, save energy, and promote a healthy interior environment that maximizes natural elements, and builders ensured that construction practices were also green. Lincoln Center has “green” on their mind as they continue the massive renovations, with construction of green spaces like the Benenson and Barclay’s Capital Groves, the rooftop lawn on the upcoming restaurant, and the terrace for the upcoming rooftop theater space.
