Run for Haiti
Join New York Road Runners and the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation on February 20th for the Run for Haiti, a 4 mile run/walk to benefit the post-earthquake Haiti relief effort. The race, which starts on the east side of the jogger’s path near 68th and ends near the Bandshell (mid-park, near 70th) , has a $40 entry fee, going directly to New York City’s Haiti Relief Fund, a fund administered by the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City that directs 100% of donations to reputable organizations providing relief in Haiti. The 4 mile race, counting towards the runs to qualify for the 2011 NYC Marathon, starts at 9:00 am and is followed by a kids’ race at 10:30 am. Can’t make the race on the 20th? You can still help the worthy cause by participating in a Virtual Run, where you simply register to run or walk 4 miles anywhere you choose from the 19th to the 24th and submit your time at the Virtual Run / Walk for Haiti website to compare your results with other virtual and live participants in the race.
