Quick — what’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the Upper West Side?

If you said the Miss Republica Dominicana US 2012 pageant, you’re in luck!

The neighborhood’s own Symphony Space is hosting the event tomorrow night at 8:00 pm (Saturday, 8/18).

From Symphony Space’s website:

Dominican Beauties USA, XL Alliance & Soneros Entertainment present: The Most Beautiful Night of the Year: 2012 Miss Dominican Republic US® Pageant, the most important beauty event of the Dominican community in the U.S. Young hopefuls from over the country compete for the crown where the winner will go on to compete for the Miss Dominican Republic Universe title. More info: www.missrdus.com

23 contestants will start the show in a live opening number, right after the Top 10 will be announced and they will compete in swimsuits and evening gowns. The 5 contestants with the highest average score by the judges will continue onto the next round: the final question. After each contestant answers the question from one of the judges, they will be judged one last time during the final look when the judges will make the final decision. Eddie y Henry performing his billboard hit: “Un Beso” plus a surprise performer who will blow you away!

This event is in Spanish.

I’m not sure how much crossover appeal there is between MyUpperWest readers and Domincan beauty pageants, but if this is your thing, tickets are available for $50 (or approximately 1,952.00 Domincan pesos at current exchange rates).

Symphony Space is located 2537 Broadway, at 95th Street.
