SATURDAY: Pumpkin Carving Demonstration & Raffle At UWS Hippo Playground In Riverside Park
It’s feels a bit early for this, but Halloween is slowly creeping up on us.
The popular annual pumpkin carving demonstration in Riverside Park will take place tomorrow afternoon (Saturday, 10/6).
Event details are at the Riverside Park Fund’s website.
The action runs from 1:30 – 3:30 pm at Hippo Playground, located just inside the park at Riverside Drive & 91st.
There’s a chance of rain tomorrow afternoon — not sure if that will affect this. Your best bet for an update is probably to check @SummerOnHudson — that’s Riverside Park Fund’s Twitter account.
“Master Pumpkin Carver” Hugh McMahon (shown in the video above) will “carve pumpkins into a variety masterpieces,” which will then be raffled off.
Mr. McMahon is more or less the Picasso of pumpkin carving (he also does watermelons).
You can see some examples of his work here.
