Special Event at St. John the Divine: Thank You Tibet!
This Thursday, experience a very special event at The Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine (112th and Amsterdam). “Thank You Tibet!” will be a celebration of Tibetan culture with a slew of special guests. Nobel Peace Laureates Jody Williams and Shirin Ebadi join Laurie Anderson, Philip Glass, John Giorno, Michael Imperioli, Bobby McFerrin, Robert Thurman, and Tibetan and non-Tibetan performers to celebrate the endurance of Tibetan culture over 50 years in exile. The event will honor His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan people for their steadfast commitment to nonviolence as a path to peace and for safeguarding and sharing their unique culture with our global community. The program will feature excerpts from Kundun by Martin Scorsese and rare images from pre-1959 Tibet taken by Demo Tenzin Gyatso, as well as messages submitted to the Thank You Tibet! campaign. Learn more about this and related events by going to the Thank You Tibet! website, or purchase tickets by going to The Cathedral of Saint John the Divine’s website.
