Special UWS Fashion Week Offerings
While it is next to impossible to get a seat in the tents for the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week shows that officially begin today, there are many ways to participate in and around Lincoln Center.
• The Lincoln Square Business Improvement has arranged a special dining promotion, Fashion Plate Prix Fixe, featuring 20 Lincoln Center-area restaurants offering prix fixe lunches, dinners and/or brunches during Fashion Week (February 10th through February 17th). Some of the restaurants participating in the promotion, which is open to the public, have elected to create playfully-themed menus with a nod to the world of style. Click through to check out a list of participating restaurants and their prix fixe deals, check for window signs indicating participants, and check with the restaurants in advance for any additional restrictions.
• Right next to the tents, the Empire Hotel (63rd between Broadway and Columbus) is helping celebrate Fashion Week with a delicious fashion-themed cocktail menu. Special drinks include: Rebecca’s Royal Empire, a drink in honor of the Empire’s Fashion Week partner Rebecca Taylor featuring a mix of St. Germain and Raspberry Massenier, garnished with a sugared raspberry; Clutch Me if You Can, spicing it up with jalapeno-infused tequila, fresh lime, agave syrup, Cointreau and a chili pepper salt rim; Don’t Feed The Models, ade with organic cucumber vodka and sweet mint (to save calories, of course); and Thanks, It’s Vintage, a sophisticated combination of bourbon, sweet vermouth, molasses, cherry bitters and bourbon soaked apple slices. Enjoy these or other specialty cocktails through the month of February for $15 each.
• If you are an American Express card holder dying to hit up a fashion show, you can still buy tickets for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Fashion Show, taking place tonight. This first-ever runway show, featuring current trends from past winners and nominees of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, is a unique experience that brings together top designers such as Joseph Altuzarra, Jason Wu, Prabal Gurung and Derek Lam, among others. The event will feature a surprise notable host and take place at Damrosch Park, Lincoln Center’s FW headquarters near 62nd between Columbus and Amsterdam. Proceeds from the event will be in addition to American Express’s annual $250,000 donation to the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund (CVFF), a program of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). Check out event details and buy tickets at the event website.
