So while this isn’t technically happening on the Upper West Side, it’s juuuuuuuuuust close enough that I feel justified in posting. Actually, if you live on the southern end of the UWS it’s much closer to you than half the things I write about.

The Amazing Spider-Man, the series reboot scheduled for a summer 2012 release, is filming in the vicinity of West 56th & 57th around 8th Avenue this weekend. According to the picture from OnLocationVacations.com, they should be in the area pretty much all day Saturday and Sunday. No word on what they’re filming or who will be there, but the cast includes Andrew Garfield (taking over the lead role from Tobey Maguire), Denis Leary, Annie Parisse, Campbell Scott, Embeth Davidtz, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, and C. Thomas Howell.

The site also reports rumors of a huge stunt scene for the movie to be filmed in the West 130s next week. Again, perhaps technically outside the UWS, but close enough that I’ll have a post about that next week as details emerge.

If you’re wondering about the “Fiona’s Tale” thing in the picture above — that’s the working title of the new Spidey flick.
