Starting Today: Dance on Camera
The Film Society of Lincoln Center is holding another fantastic film series starting today. Come to the Walter Reade Theater (65th between Broadway and Amsterdam, upper level) to see a film in the Dance on Camera Festival 2011. The festival returns for another adventurous exploration of dance and film and the ways in which the two mediums engage. Come experience films about Armenian tightrope dancers with The Last Tightrope Dancer in Armenia, Swiss rhythmic footwork with Bödälä: Dance the Rhythm, a Paris Opera Ballet dancer with Claude Bessy, Lignes d’Une Vie (Traces of a Life), flamenco, and break dancing with All The Ladies Say… and that’s just a sampling. Opening night is tonight, and the Claude Bessy, Lignes d’Une Vie (Traces of a Life) screening will be followed by a reception and a Q&A with the film’s subject, Claude Bessy, and the film’s creator, Fabrice Herrault. Check out the full festival schedule at the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s website.
Friday, January 28th through Tuesday, February 1st, 2011, $7-$12 (individual screening), $5-$9 (weekday matinee), $18-$27 (three-film pass)
