Sunday: AIDS Walk New York
Join the 45,000 participants on Sunday for the 25th annual AIDS Walk New York. The walk, benefiting the Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC) and other important tri-state AIDS service organizations, is a 10-kilometer route that starts and ends in Central Park. The route goes through the west side of the park to exit at 110th, when it heads west to Riverside Park, downtown along the Hudson River, and across the Upper West Side at 85th. You can register as an individual walker or form or join a team. It is free to walk, and the only request is to try to raise funds to assist thousands of people living with HIV/AIDS throughout the tri-state area. The ceremonies before and after the walk also include great guest appearances like Governor David Paterson, Leslie Jordan (My Trip Down the Pink Carpet, Will and Grace), Jai Rodriguez (Queer Eye for the Straight Guy), and Hal Sparks (Queer as Folk). If you don’t want to walk, you can always donate to a walker or team, volunteer, or even come out and cheer on the walkers. A big pat on the back to participants for helping such a great cause!
