Symphony Space’s Dance Season Begins Tomorrow
Symphony Space (Broadway at 95th) is proud to be a multi-disciplinary performing arts center, and as part of their wide variety of interesting events, the venue is putting on what is sure to be a great season of dance. Come to the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre at Symphony Space tomorrow to see the kick-off of the dance season with Gibney Dance and David Parker & the Bang Group. In juxtaposing two very different kinetic and aesthetic worlds, yet collaborating on a similar theme and with the same composer, the two choreographers will enrich and enliven each other through the process of learning from their differences and creating connecting spaces. The show will run for two nights only, ending Saturday, but the spring season of dance at Symphony Space continues with great events, from the US Pole Dancing Championships on March 19th to internationally-renowned tap-dancer and choreographer Roxane Butterfly on April 16th and 17th. The dance season concludes on May 6th-8th with Ballet: Uptown Downtown/Today and Tomorrow, featuring two contemporary ballet companies whose choreographers share classical vocabulary yet create pieces with very different sensibilities. Buy your tickets at Symphony Space’s website, and enjoy a wonderful season of dance.
