Tavern on the Green Closes Tonight with Final New Year’s Bash

It’s actually here… the final day of Tavern on the Green (Central Park West at 67th) as we now know it is today. After the operating contract for the famous Central Park restaurant was awarded to Central Park Boathouse manager Dean Poll over the current operator Jennifer LeRoy, the future of the restaurant after January 1st, 2010 has been uncertain. From the re-opening date being up in the air due to disagreements in union negotiations to a fight over the name, the fate of the restaurant for next year is still uncertain. On top of the legal troubles, LeRoy is auctioning off the furniture and decor of Tavern on the Green to repay her debt. If you are a Tavern fan and want to get one last opportunity to enjoy the restaurant as it has existed for decades, consider LeRoy’s final bash, held to ring in the new year this evening. Choose from a first seating dinner in the Crystal Room or in general seating or a New Year’s Gala in the Chestnut Room or the Park Room. Each option offers a different option for food and beverages, music, dancing and party favors, and entry fees range from $109 to $500 per person. Make your reservation ASAP!
