I’ve had a couple of readers ask about the car wreck pictured above — it was parked on Columbus Avenue near W. 82nd Street for a couple of days last week.
The story behind it is actually pretty straightforward.
I talked to a cop outside the nearby 20th Precinct (120 W. 82nd, btw. Amsterdam & Columbus) last night. While he wasn’t familiar with the specific car shown above, he said it was likely involved in a DWI/DUI incident and had been impounded.
Apparently such vehicles can occasionally sit nearby the police station for a while before being moved to the impound yard.
If you were wondering what the deal was, there you go…
H/t to MUW reader Katie K., and thanks to @PeteLabrozzi for the photo.
