If you’re looking to get some shopping in this weekend, just a quick reminder that there are three different closing/going-out-of-business/liquidation sales taking place on the Upper West Side right now:

  • Department store and apothecary Thérapie has lost its lease and is in the midst of an “everything-must-go” sale. Post last month that everything was discounted 20% - 40% — you might even find some bigger discounts at this point. I just spoke to someone there who indicated the sale might run through the end of February (309 Columbus, btw. 74th/75th, 212-877-5391).
    .
  • The Gap at 86th & Broadway is in the final days of its closing sale — Monday will be its last day of business. A salesperson told me by phone that their racks are “almost empty,” so if you’re looking to snatch anything up on the cheap, head over there ASAP. They’re offering 40% off prices that have already been marked down by as much as 70% (2373 Broadway at 86th, 212-873-1244).
    .
GAP UPDATE: Frequent tipster Kris just posted this on the MUW Facebook page: “Don’t bother with the Gap. I was there 5 days ago and there was f*ck-all in the store.” Jeffrey added “Gap is barren.”
    ..
  • The liquidation sale over at Roam is going so well that they think they might be completely out of inventory within a week. They’re offering 50% off everything, including fixtures, displays, and furniture (488 Amsterdam, btw. 83rd/84th, 212-721-0155).
