Three UWS Hurricane Evacuation Shelters May Need Volunteers

Tuesday, October 30th, 2012

I don’t have a lot of details on this, but MUW reader Miki pointed out to me that there are several evacuation shelters on the UWS and at least some of them may be looking for volunteers.

Miki passed one on West 84th earlier today and at the time they were looking for volunteers to do receptionist/admin type stuff during the evening/night shifts.

If you live nearby any of these locations and are looking for something to do, you might want to drop by and see if you can help.

  • John Jay College (445 W. 59th, between Amsterdam & Columbus)
  • Louis D. Brandeis HS (145 W. 84th, between Amsterdam & Columbus)
  • IS 118 (154 W. 93rd, between Amsterdam & Columbus)

You can find more locations around the city using this link.

If anyone has more information on volunteering at these shelters, please let me know.

UPDATE 10/31: Just put up a new post about this — it seems the need is greatest during the evening/overnight hours.
