Thursday: The New York Premiere of RiseUP
The Film Society of Lincoln Center is holding a special event on Thursday, the New York premiere of RiseUP. The new film is a journey into the heart of Jamaica, where talent abounds and opportunity is scarce. The story follows three distinct and courageous artists who fight to rise up from obscurity and write themselves into the pages of history. The film has been honored at various film festivals throughout the world for putting a spotlight on a fascinating world in the Jamaican streets. Thursday’s event, taking place at the Walter Reade Theater (65th between Broadway and Amsterdam), includes a live reggae performance in a reception prior to the screening and a Q&A discussion with the director about the history of reggae music and its global influence after the screening. Buy your tickets now for this great event.
