Additional news is starting to come in regarding the accident at 97th & Amsterdam this morning.

Different outlets have different details, but at least three sources are reporting a 4-year-old girl has died.

Details are available from the following: NBC, ABC, FOX, CBS, The Post, and DNAinfo.

As of around 10:10 am, CBS, NBC and ABC are reporting the child has died of her injuries.

In a rush to be the first with the story, almost every media outlet has slightly different details:

  • The girl’s age is listed as both 3 and 4. Some outlets are reporting she’s in critical condition, others are reporting she has died from her injuries.
  • A woman who was also struck by the car is described by different sources as the girl’s mother, grandmother, and nanny. Her age is listed as both 55 and 58.
  • Apparently the teenage driver of the SUV that struck the woman and child is in custody. Reports are that he tried to flee the scene but was apprehended. UPDATE: It’s now being reported that the teen driver of the SUV was fleeing police from an earlier, unrelated incident. He reportedly struck the victims while attempting to evade police capture.

More to come…

NOTE: The links above are to stories that are being updated in real-time. As of this posting, the details are all over the place. I expect the stories to fall in line with each other as the day progresses.
