Each month, My Upper West chooses an Upper West Side business as Pick of the Month.  These businesses are part of what makes our neighborhood great, and we highly recommend checking them out if you haven’t yet had the chance.  This month’s pick is Gotham Gardens, located at 325 Amsterdam, between 75th and 76th.  Click through to read about Gotham Gardens.

It’s February, and while this month has a couple of commonly-thought-of characteristics (short, cold weather, Black History Month), usually its biggest holiday comes to mind, Valentine’s Day.  As the day of love approaches, if you are thinking about what to get your sweetheart as a token of your love, consider one of the unique arrangements from Gotham Gardens.  The flower and plant shop on Amsterdam offers some innovative designs so that your arrangement is more than the phone-it-in-red-roses-in-plastic-wrap.  Entering the store feels like “walking into an oasis,” with unique flowers, plants, water features, and rocks, each display reflecting the staff’s close attention to detail.  This attention to detail, along with a passion for flowers and design aesthetic, leads to rave reviews of the staff on Yelp.  In addition to the store being a go-to spot for many Upper West Siders looking for gorgeous flowers, unusual botanical elements, stunning orchids, specimen plants and beautiful objects for the home, the shop offers event and wedding design, along with an array of artistic services.  According to New York Magazine,
