Big closing news today: West Side Rag reports that the Borders Books in the Time Warner Center is closing as part of larger bankruptcy for the company as a whole. No word yet on the exact closing date, but it’s possible that it could be as soon as this Friday.

Borders hosted a slew of free events for the neighborhood and their presence will be missed. Their eventual closing will leave the Barnes & Noble at Broadway & 82nd as the only big-box bookstore left in the neighborhood.

In “soon to be opening” news, Racked has some pictures and an update on the new Upper West Side Athleta store slated to open on August 10th.
