Upper West Side Closings

Above is a screen shot of the auction listing for a “well-known restaurant and bar” on the Upper West Side. The auction was sent in to the New York Times‘ Grub Street by a tipster, solidifying the news that Señor Swanky’s, whose last location standing was on Columbus between 84th and 85th, is shutting its doors for good. Calls are going unanswered, and the website is down, so it sounds like the UWS has one less place to go for big burritos and outdoor margaritas.
Also closed are Neo Sushi (Broadway at 83rd), Corner Cafe and Bakery (Broadway between 84th and 85th), and a bodega/market on Broadway and 94th. Thanks to West Side Independent and tipster Daren E. for the info. Finally, for a slightly-less-depressing closing… Roth’s steakhouse (93rd and Columbus) closed its doors in mid-March, but officially reopened on April 1st as The Corner, a New American restaurant.
Did you see an opening or closing on the Upper West Side recently? Tell us… send as much information as possible to “alerts [at] myupperwest.com,” and we might post it!
