A round-up of recent Upper West Side crime-related news:
- 23-year-old Upper West Side resident Christopher Adames was stabbed to death outside a Chelsea nightclub earlier in the week (additional details here). On Thursday, 41-year-old club promoter Manuel Pinero (Manny Stax) was arraigned on second-degree murder charges. Pinero is being held without bail — he apparently owns a $1.3 million home and prosecutors argued his access to money make him a flight risk. He’s due back in court on Tuesday.
. - Police arrested 33-year-old Anthony Cesario and charged him with seven counts of robbery and one count of attempted robbery for an alleged two-month crime spree. Cesario is accused of robbing multiple banks, including two on the Upper West Side (Chase at 2030 Broadway & Sovereign at 2275 Broadway) by claiming he had either a bomb or gun.
. - Rape charges were dropped against a bartender accused of attacking a women in Morningside Heights, near Columbia University.
. - According to a recent report, the Upper West Side has the city’s lowest rate of car theft.
