Upper West Side Library to Offer Free Yoga

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

yoga-guyDNAinfo reports that an Upper West Side branch of the New York Public Library will begin to offer free yoga.  The Bloomingdale branch, located on Columbus and 100th, will kick off the free classes next Wednesday, and continue each Wednesday at 6:00 pm.  Instructor Christa Avampato, who lives near the Bloomingdale branch, will lead the 45-minute class, with the library making space in its second-floor auditorium for up to 40 to 50 participants, according to library manager Rebecca Donsky. The library’s hope is that the classes will attract people who’ve never visited the library while catering to others who can’t afford yoga classes or a gym membership.  If you are interested in dropping in for a class, dress comfortably and bring a yoga mat or beach towel.
