Upper West Side Milk Bar Opening Update: Crack Pie & Pork Buns Starting At 8 am On Saturday

The plywood is down. The signage is going up. T-Minus 38 hours & 25 minutes until Crack Pie and pork buns arrive on the Upper West Side.

MUW reader Kevin (who has become a de facto staff photographer of sorts) noticed the plywood covering the Milk Bar storefront (561 Columbus, at 87th) has been removed and snapped the photos above and below.

Originally slated to open on Tuesday, and then unceremoniously pushed back to Saturday (9/24), this should allay any lingering concerns of additional delays.

My inbox has been flooded with people who were looking for more information. I’ve never been to any of the other Milk Bar locations, but people seem to be genuinely obsessed with this place.

NY Mag’s Grub Street also has a first look a new pork bun that will be served at the UWS location (h/t to Hammer). Per Grub Street:

This baby’s fashioned more like a traditional bao, with the steamed dough fully encasing the slow-braised pork shoulder, and comes split and topped with an optional deep-fried, soft-poached egg.
