Looks like the horrific case of Upper West Side mom Devi Silvia is about to come to a close.
Silvia was charged with attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child after she threw her 19-month-old daughter from Pier I into the Hudson River and then jumped in herself in an attempted murder-suicide. The incident took place in May of 2010.
She was released on $10,000 bail later that summer.
DNAinfo reports that Silvia will likely receive a plea offer at her next court appearance on 12/2. Per DNA:
“It’s going to be not guilty to by reason of insanity,” Assistant District Attorney Kevin Wilson said.
If she accepts the plea offer, Silvia will be automatically committed to a state psychiatric center for a six month period and then reevaluated to determine whether she should remain in a treatment center and for how long.
Yeah… no shit she’s insane.
