Upper West Side Openings

Meant to post this last week, but I think I was so subconsciously disheartened that I couldn’t bring myself to it…
The recent relocating of Hale & Hearty Soup and Pricewise has left two empty storefronts on Broadway, between 81st & 82nd. DNAinfo has the disappointing news that the spaces will be combined to house a new 5,000 sf Bank Of America, set to open in summer/fall 2012… [insert dry-heave here]
In more positive news, the Blossom Du Jour first mentioned back in May is getting closer to opening. The Village Voice reports that the organic/vegan/vegetarian/kosher joint with the tagline “Shrewd Fast Food” is targeting September 9th for their opening. Per VV:
Pamela Elizabeth, who owns BDJ’s two existing locations, writes in with the news that her vegan fast food business, which is an offshoot of Elizabeth’s Blossom restaurants, will open a stand-alone location at 165 West 67th Street on September 9. Called BDJ Express, it will have six counter seats and the same menu as the original BDJ in Chelsea. A few new items, such as potato pancakes, homemade popcorn, and a Southwestern veggie burger, will be added to the menu.
Note that I believe the address given by VV is a typo. I think it should be 165 Amsterdam, between 67th & 68th. You can read a review of the Chelsea BDJ here.
