Upper West Side Openings: Gastronomie 491

The neighborhood will be getting a new “fancy food shop and cafe” when Gastronomie 491 opens later this fall. It’s moving into the former BÖC space at 491 Columbus (between 83rd & 84th).
According to a blurb in the New York Times earlier this month (this has been sitting on my desk for a while) Gastronomie 491 “will sell produce that’s mostly organic and prepared foods with Mediterranean flavors, made in-house.”
TimeOut New York adds: “Upper West Siders can snag artisanal goodies at this European-style market and café.”
Unfortunately, there’s not a whole lot more information to report. The opening is tentatively scheduled for sometime in October.
This place sounds a lot like Epicerie Boulud, without the Boulud name.
Sorry for the short post tonight — it’s been a ridiculous day.
