G-Free NYC, the gluten-free specialist mentioned here last month officially opened their store on 85th between Columbus & Central Park West today. It should be a nice addition to the neighborhood for those who require (or choose) gluten-free diets.

David K. wrote in to say that a new Pricewise discount drugstore has opened on Broadway, between 84th & 85th. He says it “looks great with a nice selection.”

Finally, following up on last month’s post about the transformation of EJ’s Luncheonette to the new Amsterdam Diner… David H. and Nicole wrote in with similar details. The restaurant does have a new owner — it’s not just a name change. In fact, it’s the same owner of the West Side Restaurant on Broadway & 69th, who also used to own the Central Park Cafe on Columbus & 97th before Whole Foods took over the space. The menu still features classic diner food and many of the EJ’s favorites, but they’ve also added some new dishes. That staff has remained the same.

Have you spotted an opening or closing? Drop me a line at alerts [at] myupperwest [dot] com.
