Upper West Side Openings: 16 Handles, Westside Market

Two quick updates on impending openings in the neighborhood, courtesy of Laura Weiss (@Foodandthings):
The 16 Handles slated for 2600 Broadway (corner of 98th) is getting ready to open for business. Laura reports that March 2nd is the big day, but that seems to be a moving target.
I spoke to two employees at the 325 Amsterdam location (between 75th & 76th) who told me it should have opened last week and is now slated for next week.
I wouldn’t be surprised if 3/2 is the date, but I don’t think it’s written in stone. That said, the opening should be very soon — your wait for FroYo around 98th Street is almost over.
Laura also notes that the long-awaited Westside Market coming to 2589 Broadway (between 97th & 98th) is slated to open sometime in March. The new WSM (which recently swallowed the Subway Sandwich shop located next door at 2595 Broadway) has been in the works since June of last year.
I spoke to a manager at the WSM on Broadway between 75th & 76th today and he told me the new location should be open in “three or four weeks.”
The original plan was for late 2011/early 2012, which later got pushed back to “February or March.”
The WSM opening can’t come soon enough for people in the neighborhood, where a grocery/market void has been created by the recent closings Golden Boy Grocery and Gourmet Garage.
