Calle Ocho is getting ready to open their new location at the Excelsior Hotel (45 West 81st). To celebrate, they’re offering 20% off food (but not alcohol) this weekend as part of a preview/soft re-opening, Thursday through Sunday (7/28 – 7/31).

The restaurant will not be operating at full-capacity during this period. There are a limited number of reservations available and it’s highly recommended that you call ahead. Walk-ins will be accepted if space is available.

During the preview/soft re-opening, only dinner will be served. Regular hours will resume on Monday, 8/1, and brunch service will resume the weekend of 8/6.

You may have read here previously that Calle Ocho was handing out $10 coupons in front of their old space. If you missed out on that, fret not — while they’re no longer handing them out in person, the coupon is now available via the restaurant’s Twitter feed and Facebook page (note the tweet says “4/28″ — this is a typo and should read “7/28)”. The coupon cannot be used during this weekend’s preview period; you’ll have to wait until next Monday when the restaurant resumes normal operation.

I believe they’re taking the coupons down on Thursday, so print yours out now if you’re interested.

In other opening news, Hale & Hearty Soup tweeted in to say that their new location will be open for business starting tomorrow, Tuesday, 7/26.
