Upper West Side Openings and Closings
The Yard, a wine bar/brunch/pizza spot, is now open. The restaurant is a much-needed addition to the Trump development area… located on Freedom Place and 68th, it is one of the only eating-out options available in the vicinity, which houses a series of high-rise residential buildings and ABC studios. The Yard opened around December 8th, according to My Upper West tipster Norma, who also provided the photo.
Also officially open in that area is the Gracefully food market at 65th and West End Avenue. The store stocks a decent variety of produce, prepared meals (specializing in Asian meals), and prepackaged foods.
Next, tipster John tells us that West Lake Palace is officially open in the former Silk Road Palace location at Amsterdam between 81st and 82nd. The new spot reportedly has a “new owner, different menu, and some of the previous staff still waiting on tables.” Our tipster gives a thumbs-up on the food. The best news? The free white wine offer is still in place!
In closing news, the Kenneth Cole store at Columbus between 76th and 77th has closed. Thanks to tipster Lara for the info.
Did you spot an opening or closing in the neighborhood? Let us know… send as much information as possible to “alerts [at] myupperwest.com,” and we might post it!
