Pecan Café, a popular eatery located in Tribeca at Franklin and Varick, is expanding to the Upper West Side.  Crain’s New York reports that the Italian coffeehouse signed a lease for a second location at 387 Amsterdam (between 78th and 79th).  The café, which has been open for 6 years, serves up sandwiches, salads, soups, and pastries along with hot and cold gourmet drinks.

In other opening news, an anonymous tipster reports that there is a new bike store on the Upper West Side.  The shop is reportedly now open on the north side of 72nd near West End Avenue.
