The New York Post reports that Ditch Plains, the oyster bar/fish shack that pays homage to Montauk and is headed up by sea-lover (and chef at Landmarc) Marc Murphy, is getting close to opening its Upper West Side location. The restaurant, with a popular West Village location, is slated to open its 5,000 square foot location in the former BarBao spot on 82nd and Columbus on Tuesday, March 1st.
The Post also discovered an Upper West Side expansion in the works. Organic Avenue, a health-conscious food company with celeb fans like Gwyneth Paltrow, is planning to open an UWS location. The company, which opened stores on the Upper East Side and in SoHo this month, reports that they are looking to open an Upper West Side store in an unknown location. Keep your eyes peeled…
Finally, in closing news, Niko’s Mediterranean Grill & Bistro is now closed. My Upper West tipsters Jim and pz report that the restaurant on Broadway and 76th, which was part of the Big Nick’s family, has closed, with a sign on the door indicating that they “sold” their lease.
Did you spot an opening or closing on the Upper West Side? Let us know… send as much information as possible to “alerts [at] myupperwest.com,” and we might post it!
