Upper West Side Openings & Closings: Chocolate Works, Express Supply

The Upper West Side has been getting a slew of dessert-type places of late: Baked By Melissa, Choco Bolo, Crumbs @ 92nd, and Crumbs @ 108th just to name a few. Plus there’s also the impending arrival of Sugar & Plumm later this year.
Now the neighborhood has yet another option to satisfy your sweet cravings: Chocolate Works opened yesterday at 641 Amsterdam (NW corner of 91st).
This space was previously home to Express Supply Plumbing/Hardware — I vaguely remember them being closed with a “renovations” sign up a few months ago. Unless they’ve learned how to magically turn PVC piping into candy, it appears as though it was more than just a renovation.
Thanks to Kevin (photo), Jennifer, Michael, and @leslieellwood.
Per Michael: “It looks like they serve chocolate, ice cream, cakes, etc. and may have space for birthday parties. I think there’s even a walk-up ice cream window. Looks great.”
Jennifer added a note that all their candy is kosher.
The store was actually giving out free chocolate yesterday and today (sorry for the lack of a post). That promo might be continuing tomorrow — I’ll have post in the morning if that’s the case.
I was unexpectedly out of the city for most of the day, hence the lack of posts earlier today. Should be back to normal tomorrow.
