Last month tipster Jillian wrote in to say that Tamarind, the Indian restaurant on Amsterdam between 80th & 81st had closed. Today, she followed up to say that newcomer Thai Nam (pictured) has already taken over the space. However, despite the awning, they’re not open yet.

There’s another restaurant called Thai Nam in the East 40s. No idea if they’re related, but I kind of hope not — the other Thai Nam gets pretty lousy reviews.

@NYCaliMama tweeted a photo of the new JackRabbit Sports on 72nd between Amsterdam &  Columbus. They were scheduled to open on May 15th, and it appears as though that opening went off without a hitch.

TDAmeritrade is opening one Upper West Side branch and closing another. On Friday (May 20th), the branch at 2039 Broadway (corner of 70th) will close. On Monday (May 23rd), a new branch at 1881 Broadway (corner of 62nd) will take its place. There’s already a TDBank across the street (1873 Broadway), which is something different. I’m pretty sure 1881 Broadway used to be home to a Chase.
