711open

Mentioned last month that a 7-11 was opening at 600 Columbus (corner of 89th).

Thanks to MUW reader Kevin for sending in this shot of the new “Sevies” in all its orange, red, white, and green glory.

The store actually opened a few weeks ago, but if you haven’t been able to tell by the decrease in posts after the holidays, I’m still catching up on things.

In a minor closing note a few of blocks north of 7-11, @KaraVonB reports that Shanghai Red Beauty & Spa (693 Columbus, between 93rd & 94th) appears to be shuttered, noting it “looks like they closed quickly — nail polish is still there.” It’s possible it could just be a temporary closing, but apparently it’s been more than a few days.

If you missed the post earlier today, UWS boutique Roam (488 Amsterdam, between 83rd & 84th) is going out of business — everything is 50% off.

Gourmet Garage (2567 Broadway, between 96th & 97th) officially closed on Christmas Eve. If anyone wants to know what it looked like as it was being gutted, you can check it this picture sent in by MUW reader Jim (the space is being subdivided into multiple units):
