Paige PPD, the high-end jeans store taking the former Godiva Chocolates space on Columbus between 71st and 72nd, is now open.  The jeans run $150 and upward but promise to “lift the derriere, lengthen your legs and slenderize your hips and thighs,” so totally worth it, right?  Also open is a new Greek bakery called Anthos, located on Amsterdam between 89th and 90th.  My Upper West tipster Regina C. investigated to find “awesome homemade breads, yogurts, etc. at really good prices.”  In the last bit of UWS opening news, My Upper West tipster Tiffany S. found that Energy Kitchen is opening a location on 72nd between Columbus and Amsterdam.  The chain serves up tasty, low-calorie food at what-some-consider steep prices.

In closing news, Sacco shoe store is closing its location on Columbus at 75th on Friday and offering deep discounts to clear out its inventory.  Another going-out-of-business sale is occurring at West Side Health Food (97th and Broadway), which will officially close its doors on Saturday.  Next, L’Occitane, the skin care, body care, and fragrance store, has temporarily closed its doors at Columbus and 69th.  Signs suggest customers head to the location at 83rd and Broadway while they renovate the store.  Finally, Grub Street reports that The West Branch (Broadway at 77th) closed its doors on Sunday.  Rumors had been swirling that the restaurant had faced financial trouble, and a change of concept had been discussed.
