Cupcake lovers rejoice — the Upper West Side is getting yet another cupcake shop/bakery.

MyUpperWest reader Tom (who is quickly becoming the go to source for all openings north of 100th) sent in this photo of a soon-to-be-open Crumbs Bake Shop on Broadway, between 108th & 109th. This space was previously home to Crystal Gourmet, which closed in April.

This news comes on the heels of the recent announcement that Baked By Melissa is moving to the West 80s. The Upper West Side is quickly becoming the per capita cupcake leader of New York City.

In closing news, Carrie and Doug e-mailed to say that Indian restaurant Earthen Oven (53 W. 72nd) appears to have closed. Carrie mentioned a sign in the window saying “Sorry We are closed To-day” [sic] and that the linen and place settings have been removed from tables inside. Doug noted that their website says they’re “Closed For Business.”

Frequent tipster Norma e-mailed in the photo below that shows the previously mentioned Tumi store opening in the Apthorp (Broadway, between 78th & 79th) seems to be on schedule for their fall opening.
