MUW reader Jim sent in word that Second Time Around, an upscale consignment shop, opened an outpost at 2624 Broadway (between 99th & 100th) last week. It’s their fifth Manhattan location.

In business for more than 35 years, STA’s motto is “Resale Goes Upscale.” Per their website:

2624 Broadway was previously home to women’s retailer Rootchi. I’m not sure if they closed or relocated (or when, for that matter), but their website indicates they have a location in nearby Harlem.

UPDATE 12/12: Confirmed — The Smith opening summer 2012

Elsewhere in the neighborhood, Jim also lends a little more credence to the rumor about The Smith replacing the recently closed Josephina, first mentioned in August.

Jim reports that his wife works in the building (1900 Broadway) where Josephina was located and heard The Smith mentioned as a replacement even before Josephina abruptly shuttered after more than 20 years in business.

The Smith already has a location in the East Village. A second location is opening in the Midtown East area next week.
