Upper West Side Openings and Closings

Friday, May 7th, 2010

66th-st-subway-166th-st-subway-2Above, Lincoln Center’s renovations took another step forward this week with the re-opening of an entrance to the 66th Street subway station.  The entrance, near 65th on the west side of Broadway, has been closed for almost two years while crews renovate part of the station and the surrounding Lincoln Center campus.

Another opening this week is Taberna, a new tapas bar and restaurant.  The restaurant, whose opening has been in the works since October, replaces Luzia’s on Amsterdam between 80th and 81st.  Thanks to My Upper West tipster @mollyfindley for the tip.

In UWS shopping news, gift shop Stoopher & Boots is close to opening on Amsterdam between 78th and 79th.  The shop, whose website advertises adorable bling sneakers and creative, unique clothing for babies and toddlers along with bath products and other gifts, seems to be gearing up to open soon.

In closing news, West Side Independent reports that the tasty (but not so healthy) restaurant Pinch & S’Mac, located on Columbus between 82nd and 83rd, closed down this week.  While it kind of stinks that we now have one less pizza place and one less mac & cheese place, swimsuit season is upon us, so we are trying to look on the bright side

Did you see an opening or closing on the Upper West Side?  Tell us… send as much information as possible to “alerts [at] myupperwest.com,” and we might post it!
