Upper West Side Openings & Temporary Closings: Screme Gelato Bar, Brooks Brothers

Looks like the Screme Gelato at 2030 Broadway (between 69th & 70th) is temporarily closed.
Thanks to MUW reader (and K-12 classmate of mine) Jessica for the tip.
Screme posted the following on their Facebook page on Monday:
Screme @ 69th Street and Broadway will be closed this week due to renovations. Stay tuned for news on the re-opening of an even better Screme!
I have no idea what the renovations are. As I’ve written before, I’m a fan of Screme. That said, their storefront has to be one of the smallest on the entire Upper West Side. I feel like I could “renovate” the entire place in about 2 hours.
Elsewhere…
Mentioned last month that Brooks Brothers is opening a new UWS location at 2381 Broadway (between 87th & 88th).
Just in case you needed non-PhotoShopped visual confirmation, MUW readers Kevin and Catherine sent in pictures of signage that recently went up on the storefront’s windows (that’s Kevin’s below).
I was told by employees at the other UWS location it was scheduled to open in February, but this signage says “Spring 2012.” I imagine at this point the exact date is a bit of a moving target.
Sorry for the lack of posts today — it’s been a bit of a day from hell. Hopefully things will be back to normal tomorrow.
