Upper West Side Openings
With 2010 comes many new openings in the Upper West Side. Uptown Birds, the bird supply store on Amsterdam between 85th and 86th, went out of business and was replaced by another apparent pet supply store called Fauna. The new store opened January 2nd. Another retail store opening is Giggle, the baby products shop, which just signed a 10-year lease on Amsterdam between 76th and 77th. Giggle joins the block that is home to Equinox and the new Pure Yoga. Also coming on that block is another location of the cupcake shop Crumbs. In other opening news, the bar P.D. O’Hurley’s is opening its second UWS location at 72nd between Broadway and West End, a new Italian restaurant called Gina La Fornarina has opened on Amsterdam and 73rd, and a lounge called 999 has opened to replace La Negrita at 999 Columbus, near 108th. Thanks to our friends at West Side Independent for info on many of the openings.
