Mentioned last week that the location for the new Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf slated for the Upper West Side was outed.

There was a little confusion at the time because despite some reports saying CB & TL was coming to 79th & Columbus, I had multiple seemingly-credible sources telling CB & TL going to open at 86th & Amsterdam.

There now seems to be a logical explanation for the discrepancies — apparently the Upper West Side is getting TWO outposts of Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Caffeine lovers rejoice!

MUW reader Tiffany reports getting the inside scoop from a barista at the midtown location:

I was at the midtown Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf location today and I asked the barista about the UWS location since there seemed to be a few different rumors and info floating around.  She said that there were actually going to be 2 locations…both at the 2 addresses you have already mentioned.  The one on 79th and Columbus should be open by the end of the month and the other at 86th and Amsterdam by the end of the year.

While this is unexpected — there was only mention of one store when the UWS CB & TL news broke in September — it definitely makes sense given the conflicting rumors out there.

If you’re a coffee lover who’s looking for another neighborhood option (that hopefully won’t attract mystery perverts who like to masturbate in the bathroom), this has got to be welcome news. And don’t forget that Irving Coffee Company is opening a location on West 79th in January.
