Upper West Side Real Estate Development: Glassy Tower Coming To Riverside Boulevard

Thanks to relaxed zoning laws, the newest tower rising on Riverside Boulevard will be considerably glassier than its siblings to the north. The building is part of a residential cluster originally proposed almost a decade ago to rise at the former Pennsylvania rail yards between West 59th and West 72nd streets along the West Side Highway.
Crain’s has the details on the 33-story, 650,000 square-foot behemoth, to be located at 40 Riverside Boulevard, courtesy of Stephen Hill, a partner at Goldstein Hill & West Architects. He’s worked on 10 projects in the Riverside South area since 1995, most recently on Extell Development’s Rushmore, Aldyn and Ashley residential towers.
While the exact number of units and start of construction are unknown, 40 Riverside Boulevard will “have a mix of units ranging from one-bedrooms to larger duplexes and single-floor units toward the top of the building. The tower will also be chock full of amenities, such at swimming pools and regulation-size basketball courts that Extell’s previous buildings are known for.”
Buildings in this area have produced numerous “Unattainable Apartments,” so this is far from the last you’ll be hearing about this tower.
