UWS SCHMUCK OF THE WEEK: The Guy Who Inadvertently Shut Down JFK

This week’s honor goes to the Upper West Side lawyer who discarded his computer bag on the floor of the American Airlines terminal at JFK earlier this week before boarding his flight.
Someone alerted authorities to the suspicious looking package and a Port Authority bomb-sniffing dog was called in. Matters were complicated when the dog “sat” on the bag, indicating it might contain explosives (it did not).
The incident led to a terror scare that “closed down a terminal for an hour and a half, delayed nine flights and inconvenienced hundreds of travelers,” cops told The Post.
WSJ’s Metropolis blog reports that police officials reviewed security videotape from the terminal which showed a man leave the bag and then board an AA flight. Federal air marshals aboard the flight were contacted and spoke with the passenger, who said he had accidentally left the bag behind.
So, congratulations unnamed Upper West Side lawyer — for setting off a terror alert and closing down a major airport for 90 minutes just because you can’t keep tabs on your bag, you, sir, are a schmuck.
