The Village Voice recently published their annual “Best Of NYC” list and the Upper West Side is pretty well represented.
Like any “Best…” list, I’m sure not everyone will agree with the choices. Still, I’d rather have these ten than none.
You can check out the LENGTHY full list over at VillageVoice.com — they’ve got selections for just about every category you could think of, plus countless more that would never cross your mind.
As for the Upper West Side — the 2011 “Best Of NYC” winners are…
- Best Romantic Dinner: Asiate
- Best French (AND Best Southern French) Food: Boulud Sud
- Best Veggie Burger: Five Napkin Burger
- Best Place To Take A Vigorous Walk: Riverside Park
- Best Indie Boutique For Men: Steven Alan
- Best Soul Food: Rack & Soul
- Best Bike Ride: Central Park Loop
- Best Picnic Spot: Sheep Meadow
I’ll admit, I’m cheating just a bit on these last two…
- Best Strategy From Here Through Maternity: Uniqlo
- They recently had two pop-up stores in the neighborhood. While they’re now closed, there are rumors the pop-ups were a litmus test for opening a permanent location on the UWS.
- Best Theater: Public Theater
- The actual Public Theater is in the East Village on Lafayette Street, BUT — they’re also behind the wildly popular annual Shakespeare In The Park, which makes its home at the Delacorte Theater on the UWS.
