Upper West Side Woman Turns Her Apartment Into Full-Fledged Art Gallery & Studio

The biggest complaint most New Yorkers have about their apartments is that there’s never enough space. Tiny bedrooms, miniscule kitchens, lack of closets — there’s never enough room for our stuff.
Somehow, Upper West Side resident Cary Gang has managed to cram an entire art gallery and studio space into her apartment at Amsterdam & 110th.
The Columbia Spectator has Gang’s story (with a photos). Per CS:
Gang’s abstract paintings and upstairs neighbor Nan Melville’s photographs hang on every surface available: the cream walls of the entryway, propped against windows, above the fireplace of Gang’s paint-splattered studio, on the side of wicker baskets in the bathroom space. The apartment is spacious but maze-like, and Gang plays a warm gallery host with ample offerings of food and snack.
Open houses apparently ended this past weekend, but you an e-mail Gang directly for an appointment to see the space and works: carygang [at] gmail.com. Her paintings start at $400 and Melville’s photos start at $47.
Definitely not the way most people use their apartment.
