Romio has a post up today with a rundown of various Upper West Side yoga studios, including their pics for “Fanciest,” “Friendliest,” and “Crunchiest.” I’m actually not sure what “crunchiest” means, but it makes me think of peanuts. They also list the “cheapest” Yoga option, which is one that I’ve mentioned before — the free yoga sessions in Riverside Park South every Wednesday from 6:30 – 7:30 through the end of September (pictured above).

In addition to the free yoga in Riverside Park, the Bloomingdale branch of the New York Public Library (150 West 100th, between Amsterdam & 100th) also offers free yoga. Unfortunately, it’s also on Wednesdays (at 6pm), so it’s not really possible to double-up. But if you live in the northern part of the UWS and don’t feel like schlepping down to 60s, it’s another good option (minus the scenery of the Hudson River).

Finally, this reminds me of an article the West Side Spirit did a while back that I never got around to posting. In April, they ran a piece detailing the the huge increase in yoga studios on the Upper West Side, and how the neighborhood is now giving downtown areas a run for their money when it comes to both the quantity and quality of yoga offerings.
