How long have you lived on the UWS?
I have lived on the Upper West Side for 19 years.
What made you decide to move to the UWS?
My husband and I decided that the UWS was a great place to raise our daughter and we couldn’t think of living anywhere else.
What is your favorite thing about the neighborhood?
Its charm, diversity, and sense of community.
Riverside Park or Central Park?
Riverside in the spring and Central in the fall.
Describe your best celebrity sighting on the UWS.
Brooke Shields at spin class… Soul Cycle on West 72nd Street.
What is your favorite meal on the UWS? Favorite place for a cocktail?
Favorite meal and all-time favorite restaurant is Pomodoro on 71st and Columbus. We’ve been going there since it opened over 14 years ago, and Peter is the ultimate host. Linguini Vongole is a MUST! Favorite place for a cocktail would be Ouest at 84th and Broadway in the fall/winter… prefer the front table by the window. In the spring/summer, the rooftop of the Empire Hotel for a cosmo.
If you could change one thing about the UWS, what would it be?
Absolutely nothing… it is perfect.
What would you like to see filling the empty storefronts in the UWS, or what would you like to see more of in the UWS?
I think we could use more unique stores and restaurants and less banks and drug stores.
Horse and carriage rides in Central Park: romantic, too touristy, or cruel?
Too touristy… I prefer a pedi-cab.
What are you looking forward to most: completion of Lincoln Center’s renovations, Trader Joe’s on 72nd and Broadway, the shops at Columbus Square, or completion of the 96th Street subway station?
TRADER JOE’s!!!
What is your favorite thing to do in the ‘hood on a nice UWS day?
Take a walk down Broadway, cut across to Amsterdam at 80th and have brunch at Bettola. Continue down on Columbus for shopping and people watching.
Who is your favorite UWS resident, past or present?
Too many to list, but here are a few… John Lennon, Howard Stern, and Tina Fey.
