If you’ve spent enough time on the Upper West Side, you’ve probably seen Kevin Bacon around the neighborhood. He’s been living here for 35 years, and the concept of “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” holds true for sightings — everyone I know seems to have spotted him somewhere, sometime. He’s like a celebrity, UWS version of “Where’s Waldo.”

The Daily News recently did a brief piece on him. Among the things that jumped out at me — apparently he has “a fondness for stopping and helping people out who have their noses buried in a map.”

So there you go, give the Upper West Side an extra point for the fact that if you’re a lost tourist, Kevin Bacon might stop you and provide directions.
